Creative Writing and Journalism

I have a strong passion for research and knowing more about topics I don't know well enough. Although, the part that I find the most rewarding is writing about it after the research is complete.

When I was in the public relations program, I took plenty of writing courses. That includes college writing skills, news writing, writing for PR, feature writing, and copywriting. I also had a research class where I learned all about primary and secondary research and finding the most credible sources.

For co-op at the end of the public relations program, I had an amazing experience being an Intern Reporter for UW Imprint. I spent my days writing thought-provoking and newsworthy articles for students and faculty at the University of Waterloo. My first published article made the front page of their paper. Before I left, I had completed a hard-hitting article about sexism and misogyny in UW's Computer Science program. A story that even full-time reporters at Imprint had struggled with completing.

Every once in a while, I post on my personal Instagram story inviting people to ask me serious questions about anything. I've had people ask me questions ranging from "What does the fox say?" to "What is the meaning of life?" I enjoy responding with a somewhat lengthy and well-researched response to all questions. Not only is this a fun way for me to interact with my followers, but it also allows me to practice and improve my skills in writing and researching.

Capstone Campaign Proposal

In my final year of public relations I was responsible for creating a metophorical campaign from scratch. I created the Bud 4 Bees campaign as a way to increase the bee population in Guelph, Ontario. This 44 page paper was marked 99% and is now used as an example for current students in that class. Follow the link to read all about it.
